Use What You Got

1 Kings 18:39

And when all the people saw it, they fell on their faces and said, “The Lord, he is God; the Lord, he is God.”

Elijah was in a “showdown” with the prophets of Baal. It would be decided, perhaps once and for all, that there is only one God.

And God shows up spectacularly! Read the full story here.

Today, there are many gods that are believed in. Some even believe in no god at all.

But nothing has changed. There is still only one God. One True God. And He still shows up spectacularly today.

Not fire from heaven, but in, with, and under bread and wine. Not in a consumed sacrifice on an ancient hill, but in a once-for-all sacrifice on a cross.

You and I, as Christians, believe in the One, True God. The only God there is.

Our God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – is the only way anyone can be saved. There is no other way, no other plan, no other source other than the Triune God.

Our God made our salvation secure through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

You and I have been given the task to share, to proclaim, this life-giving message to the entire world.

How? In Isaiah 60 it says that some bring “gold and frankincense.”

In the Christian Church, the Epiphany of our Lord was just celebrated – which is the visit of the Wise Men to the young infant (or toddler) Jesus. This passage from ancient Isaiah points to this.

But it is also telling us that God will use our treasures, our gifts, our income, our talents, our desires and passions (if they be Godly) to fund the proclamation of the “good news, the praises of the LORD.”

Use everything you’ve got (for it all comes from God) to tell the Good News about Jesus!
