Teach me your way, O Lord,
that I may walk in your truth;
unite my heart to fear your name.
These words from Psalm 86 are often used as a common response in the Office of Matins and/or Vespers. They are profound words of worship.
The “way” of the Lord is truth. Our prayer is to unite our hearts. What divides our hearts? Sin, of course.
As we walk in the truth of the Lord’s way we see that God loves us with an unimaginable love. We also see that God forgives our sins through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. This is the truth in which we walk.
And I believe this is a truth that will lead us to a worship service, in a church, with brothers and sisters in Christ. Where we can unite our hearts with theirs and further walk in the truth of the Lord!
